1873

William Washington Storm builds a stagecoach stop and post office in Wood County. We’re not sure what the exact menu was, but we expect they served up chicken fried steak and fresh catfish — much like we serve today.

1944

Jim Storm owns and operates a diner in San Antonio, and Storm’s hamburgers and french fries start to become famous.

1950

The Storm family moves back to the Hill Country. IraDell and her husband J.B. open a restaurant they call The Dairy Cue. Elvis Presley, while stationed at nearby Fort Hood, visited often.

1970

The Dairy Cue is renamed Storm’s Drive-In.

1971

Their son, Robbis, assumes management of the family business. In the early 1980s, he opens two more restaurants with inside service – one on Highway 281 in Burnet and the other on Highway 36 in Hamilton.

Early 2000s

Mike Green, Clint Connolly and Mike Kolodziej assume ownership of Storm’s from Robbis. Green owns the Lampasas location and manages Storm’s Across Texas, Inc. Connolly owns the Burnet location and Kolodziej owns the Hamilton location.

Today

Old-fashioned burgers with meat ground in-house and cooked on the grill still reign on the menu, but some things have changed. Storm’s Cordon Bleu now rivals burgers in popularity. There have also been many unique additions to the “secret” menu, including “The Goose.”
